Sailing experience is not required to join CSC. A comprehensive training program– 4 on-the-water and 3 classroom sessions are offered for applicants who have little or no sailing knowledge. Convair Sailing Instruction program begins a new session on the first Monday of each month from 7 to 9pm. All classes will meet at the La Jolla Village Square Community Room. Membership forms and dues are accepted at the first meeting.
If you would like to try sailing before committing yourself, try an orientation sail as described in Events and Activities.
For those with prior sailing experience, a preliminary on-the-water assessment is given to determine the extent of your sailing skills and nautical knowledge. This determines the amount of sailing instruction required, if any.
CSC's valuable sailing instruction program is included in the annual dues and fees.
Costs
The current annual dues is $300, which includes $50 worth of boat use fees and all necessary instruction as outlined above. Boat use fees are per the following table:

Membership Qualifications
Almost anyone can become a member of the Convair Sailing Club, so long as you can meet the following qualifications:
- Applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
- Applicant must agree to sail the CSC boats without any impairment from drugs and/or alcohol.
- Acceptance for membership requires approval of the Club membership committee and is subject to satisfactory completion of the sailing course and adherence to the Club's by-laws.
